Sinless Apple Crumble

Sinless Apple Crumble

You know when you make something very carelessly because you have items you want to get rid of and expect the product to be very blah? That’s exactly what I did here.

I saw that I had a lot of apples in my fridge and wanted to use them up, so I decided to make an apple crumble. To my surprise, THIS IS MY FAVORITE THING I HAVE EVER MADE. I’m blown away by how good it is. Not to toot my own horn, I just can’t believe that something this delicious is 100% good for you.

Even though you’re probably wondering how it can be so tasty because it barely contains any of the regular apple crumble ingredients, that’s the magic of it. This is buttery, rich, decadent, warm, sweet, and hands down perfect. I would seriously eat it every day until forever.

All of my taste-testers loved it, including my dad (who is not at all sold on health food). I’m totally positive that who ever you make it for will fall as in love with it as I have. This is great to bring to friends houses, or family parties. Pair it with some vanilla frozen yogurt, or “Truwhip” as I have below, and the hot and cold combo will blow you away.

Yields: 8
Sevings

Filling:

  • 4 big apples (I used 3 red and 1 green)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsps honey
  • 2 Tbsps coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 2 Tbsps stevia
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Crumble:

  • 1 & 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup almond meal
  • 1/4th cup coconut sugar
  • 2 Tbsps melted Earth Balance or other light butter
  • 1 Tbsp butter extract
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsps honey
  • 2 Tbsps applesauce
  • 1/4th cup pecans
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Wash, core, and peel apples. Cut them into thin slices.
  2. Combine apples with the “filling” ingredients in a bowl. Mix everything together until the apples are evenly coated. Spray a baking dish so that the filling will not stick. Pour the filling into the dish, and arrange the apples so that they cover the entire bottom.
  3. Using the now empty filling bowl, combine the ingredients for the “crumble” together and mix evenly. Once mixed, crumble the mixture on top of the apple filling in the baking dish. Spread the crumble evenly so that it tops most of the apples.
  4. Roughly chop a 1/4th cup of pecans and sprinkle them over the crumble. Then place the baking dish into the oven for 40 minutes. You will know it is done when the apples are soft and the top is lightly browned.
