Sweet and Savory Balsamic Flatbread (Easy Vegan Summer Dinner)

What have I been making for dinner lately you may ask? Oh… just this delectable, Sweet and Savory Balsamic Flatbread.
Let’s be real, everyone loves flatbreads. They take almost no time to make, and are crazy delicious. As a person who loves to do the bare minimum but still achieves great results (don’t we all?), flatbread meals are some of my favorites.

This flatbread relies on using Naan bread, which is a godsend because you don’t have to make the dough for yourself. Aint nobody got time for that. Also, there is little to no cooking time, so you can whip this up last minute and still roll up to the dinner party looking like a master chef who had this planned all day. Thank me later.

As a person who loves to mix and match flavors, this recipe sets my taste buds on fire. It’s sweet, savory, and just the right balance of everything you could want in a meal.

As for the ingredients, this recipe gets its sweetness from balsamic glaze, and Sahale Snacks Tangerine Vanilla Cashew Macadamia mixed nuts. I’ve recently been obsessed with adding Sahale Snack mixes to every recipe since all the products are made from high-quality whole, natural ingredients. They’re Non-GMO, Gluten Free, No Artificial Preservatives, Flavors, Colors, or Sweeteners – which are all things I can totally get behind. Real food should be real, ya know?

The flatbreads savory counterparts come from green onions, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, and mozzarella. One taste, and you’ll be hooked. This recipe is awesome for entertaining or even as a quick weeknight meal. It takes less than 20 minutes to throw together and can be doubled or quadrupled with no extra time.

Makes: 2 Flatbreads

  • 1 pack of Naan flatbread
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • Sahale Snacks Tangerine Vanilla Cashew Macadamia mixed nuts (sub for cashews, macadamia nuts, and dried mango)
  • 1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 cup of vegan cheese (I use this kind in mozzarella)
  • 1 Tbsp balsamic reduction
  • 1/4th cup of arugula
  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Heat 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil on a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped Shiitake mushrooms and let them sauté for about 5 minutes until soft.
  4. While they are cooking, grab the flatbreads. Smooth 1 Tbsp of olive oil over each flatbread.
  5. Add 1/2 tsp minced garlic, and salt & pepper to taste.
  6. Add a generous amount of cheese to each flatbread, leaving a little room around the edges.
  7. Remove the mushrooms from the pan, and add them to the top of the flatbread.
  8. Move the flatbreads to a baking sheet, and bake in the oven for around 10 minutes (until the cheese looks melted and the edges of the Naan look golden).
  9. Remove the flatbreads from the oven, and add your chopped green onions, chopped nuts, and arugula.
  10. Lastly, top the flatbreads with balsamic glaze.
  11. Enjoy!
